LIME, an acronym for ‘Landline, Internet, Mobile, Entertainment’, is a communications provider owned by the British based Cable & Wireless Communications plc operating in Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Turks & Caicos in the Caribbean.
The company is formed from the integrated businesses of Cable & Wireless in the Caribbean which adopted the LIME name on 3 November 2008. LIME operates as the native incumbent telecommunications service providers in many of the islands where they reside and offer an array of services.
The company also operated mobile telecommunications under the bMobile brand from 2003 until rebranding them as LIME in 2008. The largest competitor for LIME mobile services is Digicel.
The Telecommunications Company Suriname (Telesur) is the government owned full telecommunications service provider for the South American nation of Suriname. The services provided by Telesur include telephone, internet and wireless GSM, CDMA services. Telesur is currently running a 900/1800 GSM and 450Mhz CDMA EVDO network.
Telesur manages and operates the .sr country code top-level domain.
Belize Telemedia Limited (BTL), formerly Belize Telecommunications Limited, is a telecommunications company in Belize. Established in 1972 as the Telecommunications Authority, it rapidly became Belize’s leading telecom provider in the 1980s and 90′s. Today, it enjoys the most subscribers to telephone, cellular, internet and other services. In May 2007, it changed its name from Belize Telecommunications Limited to Belize Telemedia Limited.
Today, the services and products provided by Telemedia are vast and varied and distinguished by efficiency, quality and advanced technology. The company has expanded its mission to go beyond just providing telephone service to providing telecommunications solutions for its residential, business and government customers.
In August of 2009 the company was nationalized by the Government of Belize, who bought over up to 94% of its shares.
Telemedia operates an extensive network of telecommunication services in wireline, mobile, data, Internet and value added features. Each offers a full range of products and services that include fixed line telephone service, fixed wireless, national and international calling services, prepaid services, GSM mobile cellular & GPRS/EDGE, international voice and data roaming, high-speed Internet service, high speed data service and national and international data networks.
With a focus on the future, Telemedia is expanding its network to sparsely developed rural areas to serve and continue to satisfy the needs of its customers and ensure that Belize remains at the forefront in telecommunications.
