CANTO’s 26th Annual Conference and Trade Exhibition held in Curacao, themed “Embracing Technology for Economic Success” delved into the role that ICT plays in facilitating new and existing technologies to enhance the customer experience for the development of the region. The Connect the Caribbean initiative is one of the vehicles reiterated in CANTO 2010 AGM theme. We seek to carry the goal of advanced economic development by agitating change and implementing ICT technologies, guiding and persuading telecommunications policy and encouragement of social investments.
Currently, Connect the Caribbean Initiative currently has in the works three programs scheduled to be completed by the end of 2011. These are the development of a regional e-marketplace, the launch of an e-content competition, and the Community HUB: a social investment program that targets mainly youth development through training in ICT content creation, environmental training and enterprise skills.
Our I-Create 2010-2011 Regional Content Competition with finals in January 2011 in Dominica shows particular promise. In wake of its success, we hope to turn regional content creation and generation into a viable industry, enriching the lives of our Caribbean citizenry in both monetary and cultural terms.
We welcome all firms and individuals with a keen interest in the development of the Caribbean, through the promise of ICTS’s, to partner with us and its assist us in making our projects a success.
